Plague Inc. Nano-Virus Mega-Brutal Guide/ Walkthrough/ Strategy

blogger
It took quite a few tries and fails, but I was finally able to find a solid strategy for Nano-Virus in Mega-Brutal difficulty. The first few games were a struggle to slow down the cure progress, the next set of games became a puzzle of how to infect the island countries. I might sound arrogant, but I can assure you that my guide/strategy will always net you a 5 out of 5 biohazard score with every game.

I did at least 5 games using this same strategy over and over again to make sure that it always works. Luckily enough, it always does. The key to this strategy is balancing the evolution of infectious symptoms and cure-slowing abilities. You can't really focus on one particular side since the other tends to make you pay for not giving enough attention to it. That's about enough background on this strategy, so let's get started.

Once you select a country to start Nano-Virus in, the cure progression starts at the same time. That is the probably the primary reason why beating this plague is hard in both brutal and mega-brutal difficulties. If you want to get the best possible score by using this strategy, follow the order I evolve symptoms, transmissions, and abilities unless told otherwise. I'll try to explain why I evolved this and that while we move along the strategy.

Before starting, make sure you have these genes equipped:

  • ATP Boost - we'll need this because we're going to evolve a few stuff before selecting a country to start in.
  • Aquacyte - makes those hard to reach island countries, that are only accessible by ship, easier to infect.
  • Sympto-Stasis - this gene stops the increase of DNA costs of symptoms every time you evolve but it increases the speed of the cure progression. This is probably the most important gene to have.
  • Genetic Mimic - slows down the cure progression. The primary reason we need this is to counter the cure speed increase that sympto-stasis has.
  • Extremophile - gives a small boost on every climate. Very useful.
1. Before selecting a country to start in, we'll need to evolve a few things:
  • Code Fragment Interception
  • Coughing
  • Cysts
  • Hyper Sensitivity
  • Insomnia
  • Paranoia
It might seem that you won't have enough DNA to evolve everything above, but you do. Insomnia and Paranoia costs nothing to evolve.

2. Start in China or Saudi Arabia (Saudi seems to be recommended a lot by other people and its airplane paths really provide a boost into infecting countries sooner)

3. Evolve the following symptoms in any order you want. I recommend evolving the cheaper ones first
  • Rash
  • Sweating
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Pneumonia
  • Sneezing
  • Abscesses
  • Anaemia
  • Haemophilia
4. Continue by evolving the next set of symptoms(if they aren't mutated yet), transmissions, and abilities in this exact order. It is highly recommended that you evolve something once you have the DNA to do so. Why? Because Genetic Shifts happen, and when they do they'd most likely increase the costs.
  • Code Segment Interception
  • Water and Insect 1
  • Paralysis
  • Coma
  • Skin Lesions
  • Diarrhoea
  • Water and Insect 2
  • Radical Elements Stabilised
  • Drug Resistance 1
  • Genetic Hardening 1 and 2
  • Drug Resistance 2
  • Seizures
  • Insanity
  • Cold Resistance 1 and 2
  • Necrosis
  • Dysentery
  • Encryption Breached
  • Replication Factory Overload
  • Genetic Re-Shuffles 1, 2, and 3
  • Heat Resistance 1 and 2
By following this order of evolution, cure progress won't even hit 70%. Again, evolve every time you get the needed DNA.

5. At this point, you'll have to wait until the whole world is infected, you'll get a prompt saying that there are no healthy people left. Once this happens, evolve every lethal symptom you can. I suggest getting Total Organ Failure and Hemorrhagic Shock maybe even Internal Hemorrhaging. There are times though that you will have enough DNA to evolve every remaining symptom.

6. From here on, people will start dying fast. Wait for a pop-up saying something like "Nano-virus is about to eradicate humanity", after that shows up evolve Broadcast Interceptor Overload. This significantly lowers the cure progression which in turn boosts your highscore.

That's it. I hope this guide has helped you conquer Nano-Virus in mega-brutal difficulty with ease and has also helped you get a 5 out 5 Biohazard score.

If you guys have any tips, questions, or an alternate strategy you'd like to share, please do post them at the comments below. I'll be sure to include the the good ones I see along with this guide. Thanks for using my strategy and happy spicy gaming!

  2. 4 biohazards for me... When I evolved total organ failure, hemorrhagic shock and internal hemorrhaging, I didn't get any more DNA points and so I didn't have enough for the Broadcast Interceptor Overload... Cure stopped at 39%

  3. Tried 2 times and lost both, Iceland got me first time and Iceland and New Zealand the 2nd. Followed every step of your guide. Tried on both mega brutal and brutal. Total Organ Failure mutated both times, might have been that... Because of lethally.

  4. This worked perfectly, thanks! (It's the only one I hadn't managed to beat yet)

  5. Works on first attempt. Really Good.
I had to devolve Total Organ Failure 2 times, because the infected was dying and a lot of people was healthy yet.
    457 Days
    38%
    4 Biohazards

I think i didn't got 5 Bio because the overload finished before the game, then the cure returned to 38%, it was on 27% during the overload.

  6. Sound result once again.. But i evolved bird 1 ,2 at the end to infect the last 2 countrys.. Nice one mate!

  7. 'Sup Spicy! It's me again.

This worked just fine, but I'd like to suggest something:

    1. If you see, that infected die faster than infect - devolve some lethal symptoms.
    2. If you see, that some coutry closed it's borders (Damn you, Morocco!) - evolve Bird 1 and 2 (Take that, Morocco! You ain't defeating me!) .
    3. It's better to evolve Broadcast Interceptor Overload then there are ~1,000 infected alive. Just catch this moment and evolve. That will surely boost highscore.

  8. I followed the instructions and beat it in 358 day's 29% cure rate and a score of 107580. Awesome and thanks for the help

  9. It never works for me... Madagascar is always safe.

  10. Im special... first time through it didnt get morocco. Second time i added the bird transmission and it worked great!!

  11. did it and got 5/5! I came close to losing as I had trouble with a few African countries like Morocco and algeria

  12. got it on the 2nd try. Curse you Greenland!!!!! Only suggestion is to get air 1 during the process. The planes updates their air filters on my 2nd try, so I upgraded Air 1. Other than that a great guide, thank you

  13. Didnt work for PC.

Works on PC if you put one point in air at the same time as water and insect 1.

Also get heat 1 when you get cold 1 and 2 or often it doesnt get to New Zealand, with Australia taking a while.

  14. Took me 3 tries.
The 1st time Greenland & The Caribbean never got infected.
The 2nd time I moved Cold Resistance 1 & 2 up the list a little bit, but The Caribbean was still a holdout.
    The 3rd time I used Air 1 & 2 instead of Insect 1 & 2. That did it.
    Otherwise, a great method.

  15. 323 days below 30 percent cure progress

  16. This worked great, the first time I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting the no healthy people message then realized I saw Madgascar still green.... dang lemurs, they like to move it move it to much. Next time it was New zealand that was holding out, I guess Sauron was already infecting that land. 3rd time worked when I added birds into the list of infection so and made sure all islands were infected before moving on with anything else that would kill.

  17. Three times in a row Greenland holding out. Even tried cold res earlier.

  18. First try 333 days cure 27% total score of 144510

  19. devolving and evolving paranoia at the start will also net you an extra 3 DNA at the start

  20. Worked first time, thanks!

  21. New Zealand for me... Trying again.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Tried it so many times with Iceland foiling it every time, it worked this time in 367 days, 36% cure completion.

  23. this guide keeps making me lose becuase it's making the islands shut down there ports before i could infect it

    ReplyDelete
  24. Madagascar. Second time I started with Saudi Arabia which is a plane hub and I find gives more uniform spread, also has some extra points at the step where you wait for the last healthy human to get infected and the Caribbean was being stubborn and total organ failure evolved so I did air 1 & 2 and aerosol

  25. Insane! It works so well

    ReplyDelete
  26. Worked like a charm! Thanks. 377 days, 37% cure rate, and 5/5. AWESOME. Had to devolve a couple of lethal symptoms that generated, but that was it.

Done in 320 days and 29% cure, 5 Biohazards. It's a wonder why I can get this done faster than the other types with the race vs. the cure.

  32. Thanks! It worked for me. 5 biohazards in just 381 days.

  33. seems pretty good but needs a little tweaking. You need to hold off a bit longer on the necrosis and dysentery. Also u need heat resistance sooner or ur locked out of west Africa

  34. 5/5 in 346 days, thank you!

  39. scary bit in there where I had 89% cure progress, but I finished. At the last bit I evolved every single symptom, and Broadcast Interceptor overload, so it brought me down to 29%

  48. Lost 5 times in a row with China. Won first try with Saudi Arabia.

    ReplyDelete
  49. My problem is: New Zealand & New Guinea
I just kill too fast that they close their ports, air ports, and borders.

  50. Hey there!

I'm not entirely sure, but I think Mutation 10(the recent Plague Inc. update) made some changes to some plagues. This guide seems to still be working pretty well, but I'll probably make a new just for the recent update.

  51. I atleast finally managed to beat it! :D

  52. Iceland the first time, Greenland second time... Giving it a third try...
