Plague Inc. Created Equal: Fungus Mega-Brutal(3 Biohazard) Guide

For a list of available guides for the Created Equal scenario, click here.

The Fungus plague type is somewhat difficult to get a solid strategy for, mainly because of the randomness of spore burst infections; There is no way to predict which ones will get infected first. Because of this, and fungus' weakness on ship and plane transmission, this strategy can sometimes fail. There is no guarantee that it'll succeed every single time(but for my last 5 games, it has won every time. Just saying).

Before we start, here are some thoughts on mine about this strategy and the scenario in general, that I thought you should know.

  1. Events such as Awareness days, WHO watch-list placement, and 'WHO threat level increases' will significantly boost the rate of the cure progression. The latter two will cause countries to close down their point-of-entries sooner than normal.
  2. This strategy requires you to check your World data tab at some point, specifically the infection spread summary. This can be viewed by clicking world then the data tab.
  3. Be prepared to change up the strategy if you think it's required. There are a lot of random factors that could affect the success of your game.
  4. Be patient and avoid getting too frustrated. Remember, it's just a game.

Here's some screenshots of the final stats I had using this strategy
First two games while testing strategy
Used the teracyte Gene.
Used Aquacyte Gene

Gene Setup:
  • ATP Boost - 8 DNA right at the start, need I say more?
  • Aquacyte/Teracyte - Either one will do. I tested Teracyte more and won more games with it, but Aquacyte seems to work well, too. It helps make Island country infection faster.
  • Patho-Stasis - We'll be using every single spore burst ability and keeping it from increasing DNA costs would be very VERY beneficial.
  • Genetic Mimic - Slow down the cure.
  • Extremophile - Minor infection rate boost in cold/hot and arid/humid climates.
This strategy has been tested multiple times on Plague Inc. for iOS. The success of this guide for other platforms isn't guaranteed.

1.) Before selecting a country to start in, evolve Rash and Sweating.

2.) Start your plague in India, then wait a little while until you get 10 DNA points to evolve Skin Lesions.

3.) Evolve 6 Spore Bursts all the way around, then evolve Spore Eruption. After popping the red bubbles, evolve:
  • Drug Resistance 1
  • Cold Resistance 1
then immediately continue to evolve another 6 Spore Burst, another Spore Eruption, then finally Spore Hardening. After all the red bubbles are popped, evolve the following:
  • Drug Resistance 2
  • Cold Resistance 2
  • Water 1 & 2
  • Air 1 & 2
  • Extreme Bioaerosol
  • Genetic Hardening 1 & 2
Important Note: Remember to pause your game right after evolving Spore Eruptions, you wouldn't want to miss out on the red bubble DNA's. If you think you're fast enough to pop them, then disregard this notice.

4.) Now come the waiting part, You'll need to check you infection spread summary(World-Data) and check if all island countries are infected. If they aren't yet, you'll need to wait for them to be infected. Make sure that these countries are infected before continuing on.
  • Greenland
  • Iceland
  • Caribbean
  • New Zealand
  • Madagascar
The last 3 aren't really that hard to infect, but worth mentioning. Once these countries are infected, you can proceed. Other countries don't matter, as long as they're inland, they will be infected.

Continue by evolving the following:
  • Necrosis
  • Hemorrhagic Shock
  • Fever
  • Immune Suppression
  • Total Organ Failure
  • Coma
  • Internal Haemorrhaging
From here on, you can either decide to add more lethal symptoms or focus on lessening the cure progression by evolving Genetic Re-Shuffles. It could even be beneficial to evolve all three right after evolving Coma.

All you have to do at this point is to wait for the end of humanity.

Thanks for reading this guide and I hope it has helped you get those 3 golden biohazards for Fungus in the Created Equal scenario.

Credits, Random Stuff, and Closing Statement

This guide will shortly be followed by a Parasite and Prion scenario guides. I'm still experimenting with Simian Flu on non-scenario mega-brutal games, with the objective of finishing within 365 days. My fastest at the moment is 385; It requires a bit of luck and ape movement all through-out the game. Will discuss more about it on future guides.

  1. Just a few Thoughts:

with Metabolic Jump you can get way more DNA after all the spore bursts (evolve the first two, evolve rash, evolve 2 or 3 more, evolve sweating, evolve more till you're able to get skin lessons and so on). Its a LITTLE bit slower but it generates more dna in the long run

I like starting in Madagascar or Caribbean becau-se oh well, one less island to be worried about

And I also like evolving Bird 1 and 2 Instead of Air 1 and 2 (you plague is alreay spread out in a continental level meaning that land infection is more important than airport infection, it's cheaper and it helps with mutations towards the end, which is good without sympto-stasis)

  2. Multiple Guides tried and this one worked like a champ on the first go. Thank you for ending my frustration.
